The only thing I need tumblr to do is to get like… cool with the idea you can hire people here to do commissions for you and to like.. consider monetary support for artists cuz one of the reasons and the biggest reason I moved to twitter in the first place is because people there buy my art. I make a living there doing art.
And the vibe here is **we don’t do that here**
If you want artists to be here and do art you gotta be okay with the concept of artists trying to make money.
I hate capitalism as much as the next person but I’m also 30 years old living with my fucking parents because I can’t pay for a 1 bedroom apartment. Artists are not ‘big business’. We’re not Disney.
We’re just people trying to make a living or some money for groceries and shit.
Be open to the possibility that people are speaking nicely about you behind your back. People are conspiring about ways to help you. People advocating for you. People are genuinely rooting for you behind your back.
Ao3 volunteers are so strong. A DDoS attack, spam attack, someone impersonating the status updates twt account and trying to scam people out of money, all in the span of a few days.
These people are Volunteers.
I better not see anyone complaining next dono season. These guys are busting their asses to make sure the archive is up and running.

SO grateful for all the hardwork of the AO3 volunteer team! They are all amazing and I will be offering support any way I can!
After everyone freaked out over AO3 being down, I hope folks have come to the realization that *authors* are the ones keeping y’all so entertained that the idea of not having your favorite fic to read on demand sent you into a frenzy.
So, y’know, maybe drop a comment on your favorite fic to let the author know you appreciate them and their work 🙂

THE CONSEQUENCES
I’m going to need y'all to preemptively chill out because the actor’s strike is going to mean a lot of things including shows and movies we’ve been anticipating being pushed way back, and absolutely minimal press tours for the next however long this lasts.
The effects of the writer’s strike are months down the road which made it a whole lot easier to support because as third parties we weren’t really being affected (yet), the effect of the actor’s strike is going to be immediate and we’re going to get a lot more propaganda of “these people are overpaid to begin with.”
Remember our desire for content does not supersede these people’s rights to live.
Support unions, support the strikes.
the idea that reading is ‘supposed to be’ some kind of unenjoyable gruelling intellectual penance is also so goofy because like, good fucking luck disciplining yrself into cultivating a habit you hate and that makes you miserable i guess! it’s like if you insisted people’s food should be bland or unpalatable in the name of Health and anyone who ate something tasty was morally inferior and a societal danger. oh wait
